The club was founded in 1958 and
membership is open to all with a beneficial interest in
ornithology. The recording area for the club comprises
Northumberland, North Tyneside and Newcastle upon Tyne.
The aims of the club as
stated in our constitution are to :-
Provide news of local
ornitholgical interest through the medium of a monthly
bulletin, and an annual report,
and through other publications to
which members will be invited to contribute from their
own observations.
To encourage and instruct
younger or less experienced members in various ways,
particulary by means of organised field
work and monthly meetings.
To engage in such scientific work,
e.g. census or migration studies, as may from time
to time be approved by the committee.
Members have the use of a seawatching tower and of
course are expected to conform with the "County
Code"
