About us

The club was founded in 1958 and membership is open to all with a beneficial interest in ornithology. The recording area for the club comprises Northumberland, North Tyneside and Newcastle upon Tyne.

The aims of the club as stated in our constitution are to :-

  • Promote the interests of ornithology in the area.
  • Provide news of local ornitholgical interest through the medium of a monthly bulletin, and an annual report, and through other publications to which members will be invited to contribute from their own observations.
  • To encourage and instruct younger or less experienced members in various ways, particulary by means of organised field work and monthly meetings.
  • To engage in such scientific work, e.g. census or migration studies, as may from time to time be approved by the committee.

Members have the use of a seawatching tower and of course are expected to conform with the "County Code"
