This bird was only the second-ever to winter in Britain. Found in November 1989 being seen into May 1990, re-appearing in the county in August 1990 and last recorded on 16th January 1991. It also visited Castle Island, Shankhouse and Cresswell Pond as well as the Blyth estuary area during its stay
