The Northumberland & Tyneside Bird Club
was founded in 1958 and membership is open to all with a beneficial interest in ornithology. The recording area for the club comprises Northumberland, North Tyneside and Newcastle upon Tyne.

As a registered charity the club produces the annual report for the area ‘Birds in Northumbria’ and holds regular indoor meetings and field trips in support of its aims.

The Club’s Aims Are:

To advance the education of the general public in the knowledge and understanding of ornithology to promote research in ornithology and in any particular aspects thereof as may from to time be approved by the committee and publish the useful results of such research.

To promote for the benefit of the public the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment, in order to promote the welfare and diversity of the local bird population.


AGM 2020

It is not possible to hold an AGM in the usual format as part of the Indoor Meeting on the 8th October 2020. However, the minutes of the last AGM have been available via a link on the join page since last year, a notice in the Bulletin for nominations to the Committee received no response other than from those already on the Committee, and all intend to continue. An address from the Chairman, the Honorary Secretary’s Report and a statement from the Honorary Treasurer will all be available from this website by the 8th October.
