{"id":2502,"date":"2013-10-20T17:53:17","date_gmt":"2013-10-20T17:53:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ntbc.org.uk\/?p=2502"},"modified":"2013-11-01T20:09:02","modified_gmt":"2013-11-01T20:09:02","slug":"arcot-pond-then-big-waters-sat-19th-oct","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ntbc.org.uk\/?p=2502","title":{"rendered":"Arcot Pond, then Big Waters -19th Oct 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our first stop was Arcot Pond, which is a site we usually very rarely visit.\u00a0 As we approached the pond, 42-45 Fieldfares flew past.\u00a0 The pond itself was quiet, but water levels looked good for birds.\u00a0 There was plenty of mud for visiting waders or wandering Water Rails and lots of water for visiting wildfowl.\u00a0 We deffo plan to keep any eye on this site this autumn\/winter.<\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ntbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Arcot-Pond.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2503 aligncenter\" alt=\"Arcot-Pond\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ntbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Arcot-Pond.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"227\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ntbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Arcot-Pond.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.ntbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Arcot-Pond-300x113.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>Arcot Pond<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Next we made the short journey to Big Waters.\u00a0 We always find a visit to Big Waters a rewarding experience and the hides are always so comfortable and relaxing.\u00a0 The pond was alive with the activity of ducks today.\u00a0 These included 440+ Wigeon, 20+ Gadwall and 45+ Teal.\u00a0 Also present were up to 4 Little Grebes, 2 Great crested Grebes (including one still in summer plumage) and up to 6 Canada Geese.\u00a0 There were also four Cormorants sitting in the trees on the island in front of the 1<sup>st<\/sup> hide.\u00a0 We didn\u2019t see any Herons today.\u00a0In the log there were reports of Whooper Swan.<\/p>\n<p>The feeding station was unusually quiet today; however there were lots of berries etc. around and the temperatures are still unseasonably higher.
