{"id":6519,"date":"2016-01-07T23:45:12","date_gmt":"2016-01-07T23:45:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ntbc.org.uk\/?p=6519"},"modified":"2016-02-02T23:34:38","modified_gmt":"2016-02-02T23:34:38","slug":"last-night-a-little-auk-stayed-with-us-7th-jan-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ntbc.org.uk\/?p=6519","title":{"rendered":"Last night a Little Auk stayed with us &#8211; 7th Jan 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As a result of the recent storms and bad weather, hundreds of <strong>Little Auks<\/strong> had been blown off course.\u00a0 Some were grounded along the eastern coasts of Scotland and NE England.\u00a0 Many were weak and found it difficult to return to flight.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to organisations such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishspca.org\" target=\"_blank\">Scottish SPCA<\/a> and members of the public, lots of birds were rescued and cared for, before being returned to the wild.<\/p>\n<p>Local Naturalist, Wildlife Photographer and Filmmaker <strong>Cain Scrimgeour<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, cared for one grounded Little Auk overnight.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast night we had a Little Auk Stay with us.\u00a0 It had been grounded in South Shields, Tyne &amp; Wear.
