At times, it took to the air for short flights, but kept returning to the same area.<\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ntbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Black-Redstart-8-Cullercoats-PB-Jan-17-sightings.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-9907\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ntbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Black-Redstart-8-Cullercoats-PB-Jan-17-sightings.jpg\" width=\"375\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ntbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Black-Redstart-8-Cullercoats-PB-Jan-17-sightings.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.ntbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Black-Redstart-8-Cullercoats-PB-Jan-17-sightings-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ntbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Black-Redstart-8-Cullercoats-PB-Jan-17-sightings-533x400.jpg 533w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 375px) 100vw, 375px\" \/><\/a>\n<p style=\"clear: left;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Cullercoats<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nThe famous <strong>Black Redstart <\/strong>at Cullercoats, was still present on both days, and I managed some distant photographs.\u00a0 Other birds of note included an attractive Grey Wagtail and a couple of active Rock Pipits.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ntbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Black-Redstart-2-Cullercoats-Jan-17-PB-sightings.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-9908\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ntbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Black-Redstart-2-Cullercoats-Jan-17-PB-sightings.jpg\" width=\"375\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ntbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Black-Redstart-2-Cullercoats-Jan-17-PB-sightings.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.ntbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Black-Redstart-2-Cullercoats-Jan-17-PB-sightings-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 375px) 100vw, 375px\" \/><\/a>\n<p style=\"clear: left;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\"> Seaton Sluice\/Blyth<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>Only a short drive up the coast in some fields, to the North of Seaton Sluice and to the South of Blyth there was a large group of Geese, which has been in the area over the past couple of weeks. Amongst over two hundred Pink Feet, there was a single <strong>Barnacle Goose<\/strong>, at least three <strong>Tundra Bean Geese<\/strong> and one <strong>Russian White Fronted Goose<\/strong>.\u00a0 This was one of those rare times, where you could get really close views of a Bean Goose, through a telescope, as the Bean\u2019s and White Front were at the front of the gathering.\u00a0 The birds were still present on the Sunday and in the same location.\u00a0 I was rewarded, with even better views.\u00a0 If anyone has not been to see them yet, it\u2019s well worth the effort, as they can easily be identified amongst the Pink-Feet.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>North Shields Fish Quay <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nI was not in luck finding any white-winged Gulls at the Fish Quay this weekend however an<strong> Iceland Gull<\/strong> was in the area and was photographed the following day.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0A small group of Eider were in the river close to the fishing boats together with some diving Cormorants.\u00a0 I also noted four Dunnock\u2019s together which is not something I see very often.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Paul Buskin<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>St Mary\u2019s Down on the shore, a small group of Sanderlings were busy feeding with Turnstone and Redshanks.
