The Northumberland & Tyneside Bird Club was founded in 1958 and membership is open to all with a beneficial interest in ornithology. The club aims to provide members with news of local ornithological interest through monthly bulletins, the annual report for the area, Birds in Northumbria, and other occasional publications.
The recording area for the club comprises Northumberland, North Tyneside and Newcastle upon Tyne.
The aims of the club as stated in our constitution are to :-
Promote the interests of ornithology in the area.
Provide news of local ornithological interest through the medium of a monthly bulletin, an annual report and other publications to which members will be invited to contribute from their own observations.
To encourage and instruct younger or less experienced members in various ways, particularly by means of organised field work and monthly meetings.
To engage in such scientific work, e.g. census or migration studies, as may from time to time be approved by the committee.
Members have the use of a seawatching tower at Seaton Sluice and, of course, are expected to conform with the "Countryside Code"

50th ANNIVERSARY YEAR
The Bird Club celebrates its 50th Anniversary year during 2008 as the first ever
club bulletin was issued for sightings made during November 1958. To mark this special
occasion the club held a very successful one-
