An early start to get some of my admin backlog cleared was followed by the drive north on the A1 and a 10:00 sailing to Inner Farne with Billy Shiel’s Farne Island Boat Trips. As well as catching up with a few local birders (Joe, Michael, Lindsay, Phil) while the bird was distant/absent, the trip climaxed with extraordinary views of the bird as it flew in and landed 30′ away from myself, two visiting birders from Cleveland and a small group of Farne Islands rangers.
