Tree Sparrows – 7th-8th January 2014

Birding locally in the Bothal/Pegswood area over the last two days has produced two decent flocks of Tree Sparrows. Yesterday (7th) a flock of 40 in a sunflower/game strip adjacent to Twin trees cottage on the east side of the minor road to Bothal from Pegswood. Today 21 still on a set-aside strip in the field at Whorral Bank on the Pegswood bypass side just north of vets. These are probably the largest flocks I have seen locally since I moved here in the late Nineties. Anyone else seeing good numbers in Northumberland at the moment?
